Just Voices to Sing at the High Museum

On Saturday, January 10, at 2:00 p.m. Just Voices will perform music of the Renaissance in conjunction with the High Museum’s exhibit “Make a Joyful Noise”: Renaissance Art and Music at Florence Cathedral. This free performance will be inside the exhibit hall. The choir will perform works of Thomas Tallis, Claudio Monteverdi, Salamone Rossi, Thomas Morley, and others.

The exhibition will showcase three marble panels dating to the 1430s made by sculptor Luca della Robbia as part of an organ loft, or cantoria, in the Florence Cathedral. The panels show youths joyously singing and playing musical instruments in an illustration of Psalm 150. In addition, they will display three oversized illuminated Renaissance choir books and a sixteenth century lectern used for such books.
